Poetry of The Planets on LEA Region 4

Olympus Island and Poetry of The Planets on LEA Region 4.

Legend has it that the Ancient Gods of the Greeks have abandoned this realm, but evidence of their existence can be found above, in celestial spheres. These signs and symbols, both direct and abstract, are also reflected in Gustav Holst's 1918 orchestral suite, The Planets, Op 32.

I will be visiting this week with Mr Aberdon to write despite our RL still being in a bit of chaos. Sometimes Second Life is a panacea and my creative haven and April is NaPoWriMo after all...But what DOES one wear when visiting the very planets themselves?? Surely a series of suitable sartorial vestments will suggest themselves upon a bit of research and a dig through the gowns in my inventory, photos of course being a necessity.

Lab Chat. Ebbe Altberg Answers Our Questions

Lab Chat is an opportunity for you to ask Lindens your questions during a live taping that will be recorded and archived for everyone to view.
Frau Jo Yardley, Ebbe Linden (Ebbe Altberg), & Saffia Widdershins

The transcripts  and video  for the 90 minute Chat will be available soon afterwards to peruse at your leisure.
The set looks welcoming, and the 3 audience sims are full for the chat.
As usual, Frau Yardley and Miss Widdershins were very stylish, Ebbe has also modded his avatar a little I noticed...
Keep up with the latest Labchat news on their blog.
Did you miss the first one? Catch up here.

TAG Gacha October 2015, The Haunted Mortuary

We went, we saw, we TAGGED.
We laughed, we cried (that ultra-rare that always gets away, *sniff*) and we marveled at the tricks and treats that were handed out just for making the rounds at the shops.
Playing a round of Tag Gacha is s a bit similar to the old stamp collecting games but about a hundred times more amazing due to theme, prizes, builds, prizes, excitement, prizes....are you beginning to get my drift? :D Many shops went all out with their displays too, I was amazed. I grabbed my HUD the MINUTE the sim opened, Aberdon close on my heels (hooves?) and I admit it...we did run willy-nilly through to the finish, tagging, playing and laughing! I wanted to quickly finish my tagging to hit the bonus room and then redeem my coupons for Mystery Rares (we got 3 of those in total) but I will surely return to many shops for photos (and SHOPPING) as the event gets a bit less crowded.

My whirlwind impressions were thus: we landed just outside the gates in the pouring rain. The funeral home is a beautiful white antebellum mansion. A breathless crowd surrounded us, pushing and bumping so I fled forward, then dashed up the gracefully curving stairs to the landing, and when we went inside, there was a familiar setting to anyone who has attended a genteel funeral in the southern United States. It was a bit eerie queuing up for the HUD, it was up in front of the casket and it felt for all the world like waiting in line to view the body. But since this is SL, I almost expected someone to pop up from the casket and frighten us to death. Thankfully that did NOT happen and we grabbed our HUDs and some handy umbrellys from the stand as we headed back out into the gloomy downpour. Clicking on our flashlights and opening our HUDs we were ready to start the first spin and teleport off to the first destination!

The Last Stop
I will continue the narrative in a future post as well as show you some of our loot here and on Flickr but suffice it to say it was a delightful night and a wonderful start to an amazing event.

BURN2 2015: Carnival of Mirrors [Press Day]

It's time once again to make the annual trek to the Virtual Playa in Second Life for Burn2.
This year’s theme, Carnival of Mirrors, is about mirrors and masks, mazes and merger. It will be a kind of magic show that takes the form of an old-fashioned carnival. This Carnival of Mirrors asks three essential questions: within our media-saturated world, where products and people, consumption and communion morph into an endlessly diverting spectacle, who is the trickster, who is being tricked, and how might we discover who we really are?
The Event Calendar is essential. Teleport here.
my landing, hot noon and color surrounds me already

Classic carnivals, as theaters of illusion, upheld a very strict dividing line that separated carnies, cast as showmen, from members of a naïve public who were labeled chumps and suckers, marks and rubes. Our carnival, however, will perform an even more subversive trick — its motto is Include the Rube. The wall dividing the observer from observed will disappear, as by an act of magic; through the alchemy of interaction, everyone at once can be the carny and the fool.

BURN2 is the virtual extension of the Burning Man festival and community into the world of Second Life. It spreads Burning Culture and the Burning Man Ten Principles all year round.  BURN2 is one Burning Man regional, out of more than 100 first world Regional groups

Confronting The Man
Dreaming on a cushion at his feet, here's my view

I went for my sneak peek with the rest of the press today so hopefully these photos give you a little taste to whet your appetite to visit, explore and wander. But here is no way photos or even video can capture the merry-go round experience that engulfs and whisks you away you once you step onto the Playa. It is a being and feeling, maybe also a a doing but not really a showing kind of thing. My mother and some of my RL friends attend Burning Man and their interest piqued my virtual interest so I have been attending Burn2 in SL for several years.

Is that I distant calliope I hear? Wake up, let's go!
More photos and impression here and on my Flickr  as I visit in upcoming days!
